Introducing I2L

The Institut en Innovation Logistique (I²L) is an engineering school specializing in logistics, research, innovation and entrepreneurship. Based on the Metz university campus, this institution is deeply rooted in the Lorraine region, the Grand Est and beyond, including cross-border and international regions.

Accredited by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI), I²L offers cutting-edge training in logistics engineering at Bac+3 and Bac+5 levels. The institute was born of a fruitful collaboration between a team of teacher-researchers specializing in Computer Engineering and Logistics, and 19 renowned founding member-companies such as Amazon, FM Logistic, Transalliance, STEF, and many other major players in the sector.

Our mission is to train a new generation of logistics engineers, capable of meeting tomorrow’s challenges through the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, and machine learning. Our students are prepared to optimize supply chains in various sectors of the economy while respecting the imperatives of sustainability and innovation.

As a catalyst for change and innovation, I²L relies on close collaboration with its industrial partners to offer training in line with market realities. This commitment guarantees our graduates strong and immediate employability.

The Institut en Innovation Logistique is much more than a school: it’s a hub of excellence and synergies, where students, teachers and industrial partners work together to shape the future of intelligent logistics.

International mobility

International business is at the heart of I²L training

Thanks to the origins of its teaching and research staff, I²L is integrated into international teaching and research networks. This will enable the school to immediately put in place incentives to encourage inward and outward mobility, not only for students, but also for its administrative, teaching and research staff.

To this end, I²L has already established contacts with more than twenty foreign establishments on five continents, enabling its students to spend a minimum of one semester abroad, possibly spread over a maximum of 2 stays during their studies.

Strategic location

But that’s not all. Our location in the heart of Europe, at the crossroads of Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, offers unique opportunities. Students benefit not only from collaborations with local manufacturers, but also from cross-border internships and projects, integrating theory with international practice. This synergy creates an environment where innovation and learning transcend borders.

Businesses and local authorities

Territorial roots and strategic partnerships

The school is strongly integrated into its local, national, European and international environment, and is fully aware that this openness to the outside world is a fundamental dimension that enables it to accomplish its missions with a high level of quality. It forges partnerships with peer establishments and with its stakeholders, in particular companies and local authorities.

Quality teaching

Resources

I²L is mobilizing the pedagogical resources needed to deliver quality teaching. The team of teaching and research staff, both permanent and part-time, has been recruited with great care, and will continue to be so, while the budget mobilized to acquire equipment is substantial.

pedagogical references

5 permanent teachers and CEs will be on board from September 2024, in addition to the school director and the Director of Training, who are themselves teacher-researchers. Thereafter, the plan is to recruit 1 to 2 new lecturers per year from 2026 onwards, to build up a team of 15 lecturers and CEs over the next 10 years.

Tutorials
projects

Temporary teaching staff will complete the team as needed, for teaching, project tutoring and internship tutoring. They will represent the professional world, including ECs working in laboratories.

Dedicated
equipment

An initial budget of 250 k€ has been set aside for the acquisition of teaching equipment. A further 250 k€ has been earmarked for research equipment.
